He remembers watching in amazement as teammate Youri Tielemans sent the ball high into the net at Wembley Stadium.

The Belgian national team midfielder’s 25-metre shot was the only goal in the 2021 FA Cup final vs. Cheap Chelsea football shirts.

Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final between the two teams brings back fond memories for the Foxes team that won that day.

“To see what it meant to so many people, to feel what it meant to myself, it was a day I will never forget,” Albrighton told BBC Radio Leicester.

“There weren’t many celebrations because we were playing Chelsea again a few days later to get into the Champions League, plus there were Covid restrictions.”

Albrighton, now 34, was initially left out of manager Brendan Rodgers’ starting eleven, before coming on as a replacement for defender Jonny Evans in the 34th minute.
“I knew Jonny [Evans] was struggling,” said Albrighton. “I know when he is fit and when he is not.

“He pushed himself to start, which I don’t blame him at all.

“I was half-prepared for it, but obviously when you’re on the sidelines to get into Wembley in the FA Cup final, there’s nothing that can fully prepare you for that.”

Of the 15 Leicester players who played that day, Albrighton is one of five still in the club’s squad, while only three of those who played for Chelsea remain at Stamford Bridge.

Apart from Albrighton, legendary Foxes striker Jamie Vardy is the only remaining member of the team who won a Premier League medal with the Foxes in 2016.

“It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster at times,” said Albrighton as he reflected on his 10-year stay at the King Power Stadium since joining from Aston Villa.

“It’s been amazing to see how far this club has come.

“I’m not sure what next season will bring,” said Albrighton, who has an expiring contract this summer but is open to staying.

“There’s been no conversation at all, anything is possible. Whatever happens, I’ve loved my time here. It’s been a big part of my life.”

The past three years have not been easy for either Cheap Leicester City football shirts kids or Chelsea. The Blues are in 11th place in the Premier League, having finished 12th last season.

The recent slump in form means the Foxes are under some pressure to maintain their lead in the Championship as they try to get back into the top flight after relegation last May.

“We got a bit spoilt at the start of the season with win, after win, after win. It was never going to be that easy,” he insisted.

“This is where we really have to pull ourselves together and get through this. Sunday is a nice distraction to have, it’s going to be a great opportunity.

“It’s going to be a very tough game, but it’s a game I’m looking forward to.

“If there’s one thing Leicester fans should take away from the last decade, it’s the right to dream,” he said.
